Vice Minister of Foreign Affairs Participates in the Meeting of the Palestine Donor Group
Vice Minister of Foreign Affairs Waleed ElKhereiji participated on Thursday in the meeting of the Palestine Donor Group co-chaired by the European Union and the State of Palestine, held at the European Union headquarters in Brussels.
ElKhereiji delivered a statement underscoring the Kingdom’s steadfast commitment to working with all partners to realize the aspirations of the Palestinian people in establishing an independent Palestinian state on the 1967 borders, with East Jerusalem as its capital.
He stressed that the meeting comes at a pivotal moment following the ceasefire in Gaza and the Security Council’s adoption of the comprehensive peace plan proposed by the United States in Resolution 2803, which represents an important step toward alleviating human suffering and advancing a political process based on the two-state solution.
ElKhereiji highlighted the Kingdom’s launch of the Emergency Alliance to Support the Financial Stability of the Palestinian Authority, in cooperation with Spain, Norway, France, and a number of international partners, to enable the Palestinian Authority to meet the needs of its people and ensure the continuity of its vital institutions. He reiterated the Kingdom’s call for the immediate release of Palestinian tax revenues and an end to all coercive measures imposed by Israel against the Palestinian Authority and the Palestinian people.
ElKhereiji emphasized the importance of strengthening the resilience of the Palestinian private sector as a step toward integrating all Palestinian institutions in the occupied Palestinian territory within a unified framework under the leadership of the Palestinian Authority.
ElKhereiji reaffirmed the Kingdom’s full support for the work of the Ad Hoc Liaison Committee (AHLC), stressing the need to preserve its central role and avoid the creation of parallel tracks that could fragment or weaken international efforts.
He further affirmed the Kingdom’s full support for the comprehensive plan for the reconstruction of Gaza, proposed by the Arab Republic of Egypt in cooperation with the State of Palestine and in coordination with the World Bank, adopted by the League of Arab States and the Organization of Islamic Cooperation, and endorsed by the European Union and many other countries.
ElKhereiji stressed that early recovery and reconstruction will not be possible without a stable environment, a comprehensive and lasting cessation of violence, and full protection for the Palestinian people. He expressed the Kingdom’s strong condemnation of settler attacks in the West Bank and warned against the spread of extremism and terrorism, which threaten all efforts toward peace and de-escalation.
The vice minister concluded by emphasizing the necessity of a complete Israeli military withdrawal from the Gaza Strip to allow for reconstruction and the deployment of an international stabilization force. He highlighted that training and empowering the Palestinian police is a key element of any effective security approach, commending the European Union’s efforts in this regard, as well as the vital roles played by Egypt and Jordan in enhancing the efficiency and capabilities of the Palestinian security forces.
The meeting was attended by Minister Plenipotentiary at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs Dr. Manal Radwan.
