Islamic Military Coalition Concludes Program to Combat Terrorist Financing in Niger

The Islamic Military Counter Terrorism Coalition (IMCTC) today concluded in Niamey the advanced program on combating terrorism financing and money laundering, held November 17 to 21 with the participation of a select group of specialized national personnel from various security and financial entities in Niger.

The program is part of IMCTC's efforts to support Sahel countries in enhancing their national capacities to address the growing challenges associated with financial crimes and terrorist activities by providing specialized programs aligned with international standards and best-practice methodologies.

The program included a series of advanced lectures and workshops covering key traditional and modern methods of terrorism financing, stages of money laundering, and mechanisms for building early-detection capabilities for suspicious transactions. It also trained participants in financial data analysis using modern technical tools.

The training sessions focused on developing cross-sector collaboration between security and financial institutions and strengthening coordination between national and international bodies to counter illegal financial flows.

The concluding days of the program featured practical applications and simulation models for tracking financing networks, along with a comprehensive assessment of training outcomes to ensure their effective implementation in participants' actual work environments. The program emphasized the importance of improving regulatory and legislative frameworks to bolster the country's ability to combat financial crimes linked to terrorism.

By conducting this program in Niger, IMCTC reaffirms its firm and ongoing commitment to supporting member states and enhancing their readiness to confront complex security threats through high-quality programs and advanced knowledge tools that help build national personnel capable of detecting and dismantling illegal financing networks, thereby strengthening security and stability in the Sahel region and among member countries in general.
