RCU, Shaikh Ebrahim Center Inaugurate 'Place of Remembrance' in AlUla Old Town

The Royal Commission for AlUla (RCU), in collaboration with the Shaikh Ebrahim bin Mohammed Al Khalifa Center for Culture and Research, has inaugurated Place of Remembrance in the heart of AlUla Old Town, a new cultural experience that celebrates the collective memory of AlUla's community and the timeless beauty of its traditional architecture.

The project marks the first milestone in the institutional partnership between RCU and the Shaikh Ebrahim Center, following the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding in 2023. It embodies a shared vision to preserve cultural identity, document intangible heritage, and develop innovative programs that foster creativity and community engagement.

Designed as a multi-sensory journey through three restored heritage homes, Place of Remembrance invites visitors to explore AlUla's stories through local architecture, traditional arts, oral histories, and interactive displays.

The experience culminates in a terrace overlooking AlUla's narrow lanes, the oasis, and its surrounding landscape, a space that celebrates memory, people, and place.

As one of RCU's key cultural initiatives, Place of Remembrance reflects RCU's vision to revitalize AlUla Old Town as a vibrant center of culture and creativity, connecting the past with the present through experiences inspired by heritage and expressed in a contemporary voice.
