Libraries Commission Launches Initiative to Modernize 153 Public Libraries

The Libraries Commission is working on a project to inventory and categorize information resources as part of an initiative to develop public libraries. This comprehensive five-year plan encompasses 153 public libraries across various regions and contributes to achieving the cultural and social aspects of Saudi Vision 2030.
This project was initiated under the directives of the Minister of Culture Prince Badr bin Abdullah bin Farhan to implement the Public Libraries Development Initiative and transform them into comprehensive cultural platforms that embrace various arts and serve the community.
This initiative aims to transform libraries into interactive centers, including theaters, multi-purpose halls, and training rooms, to enhance culture and knowledge. The first step of this initiative focuses on the inventory project, which involves entering legacy information into the digital library system to facilitate its storage, retrieval, and effective use.
