Environment Ministry: 95% of Saudi Arabia’s Milk Production Certified with 'Saudi GAP'
The Ministry of Environment, Water and Agriculture confirmed that 95% of the Kingdom’s milk production is certified with the Saudi Good Agricultural Practices (Saudi GAP) quality mark, reflecting producers’ commitment to the highest standards of quality and food safety and ensuring compliance with national and international benchmarks.
The ministry reported that raw milk production from specialized dairy farms exceeded 2.7 billion liters in 2024. Riyadh Region led production with 1.6 billion liters, followed by Eastern Region with 1.1 billion liters, while the number of dairy cows in these farms reached approximately 233,000.
The ministry explained that the program underscores the importance of adopting Saudi GAP across all stages of production, which is essential to ensuring food quality and safety, improving agricultural input management, supporting farmers and technicians, developing their technical and professional skills, and encouraging innovation and the use of modern technologies. These efforts contribute to strengthening the sustainability of the Kingdom’s food security system.
Through the Saudi GAP quality mark, the ministry aims to enhance confidence in food safety standards and deepen consumer trust in local products. The initiative supports sustainable agricultural practices, increases the volume and quality of plant and animal production, and strengthens the competitiveness of Saudi products in line with Saudi Vision 2030.
