ZATCA Seizes Large Drug Shipments at Major Entry Points
The Zakat, Tax and Customs Authority (ZATCA) has thwarted four attempts to smuggle more than 261,000 amphetamine pills and 9.8 kg of methamphetamine, found hidden in vehicles and shipments at King Abdulaziz International Airport, Duba Port, and Al-Batha Border Crossing.
According to ZATCA spokesperson Hamoud Al-Harbi, customs thwarted an attempt to smuggle 49,929 amphetamine pills hidden in wooden tables at Duba Port, found 20,209 amphetamine pills hidden in a traveler's bag at King Abdulaziz International Airport, and stopped two separate attempts at Al-Batha Border Crossing: one to smuggle 191,764 amphetamine pills in the floor of a truck, and another to smuggle 9.8 kg of methamphetamine also hidden in a truck.
Following the seizures, ZATCA coordinated with the General Directorate of Narcotics Control, leading to the arrest of three individuals who were meant to receive the drugs inside the Kingdom.
Al-Harbi emphasized ZATCA's commitment to strengthening customs control and protecting society from illegal imports and urged the public to report any smuggling attempts by calling 1910 or emailing 1910@zatca.gov.sa, assuring that all reports are handled with complete confidentiality and may result in a financial reward if the information is accurate.
