
Health Minister Concludes Participation in WHO Eastern Mediterranean Regional Committee Session
Minister of Health Fahad AlJalajel concluded his participation in the 72nd session of the World Health Organization (WHO) Regional Committee for the Eastern Mediterranean, hosted in Cairo, Egypt, from October 15 to 17, where he held a series of fruitful bilateral meetings with his counterparts from Egypt, Pakistan, and Iran, focusing on developing health coordination to ensure equitable access to medical services, support emergency response efforts, and combat polio in the region.
AlJalajel also met with WHO Regional Director for the Eastern Mediterranean Dr. Hanan Balkhy to discuss ways to enhance equitable access to transformative health solutions and accelerate universal health coverage. Additional meetings with health sector experts focused on enhancing the resilience of health systems and supporting regional cooperation to address common challenges.
In the Kingdom's speech at the Executive Sponsors of the Polio Legacy Challenge Initiative, the minister affirmed Saudi Arabia's unwavering commitment to supporting international and regional efforts to eradicate polio, improve health services, and enhance quality of life.
The Kingdom's participation in the session reflects its commitment to supporting global health initiatives and unifying efforts to build comprehensive and integrated health systems, thereby contributing to health development goals aligned with Saudi Vision 2030 and fostering a healthier regional and global future.
