Saudi Reef Program Celebrates Farmer's Success in Reviving Organic Millet
The Sustainable Agricultural Rural Development Program (Saudi Reef) is celebrating the success of farmer Mohammed Al-Asmari, who revived the cultivation of local millet using traditional, chemical-free methods, in a story that highlights the program’s commitment to supporting organic products, food security, and sustainable development.
Saudi Reef Assistant Secretary-General for Media and Communication Majed Al-Buraikan said that Al-Asmari learned agriculture at a young age on his father’s farm. After retiring from his job, he registered with the Saudi Reef program and succeeded in producing a large quantity of local millet, preserving his ancestral legacy.
Al-Buraikan noted that the program’s support for the project included technical guidance, consultations, and agricultural tools, all of which were easily accessed through electronic registration. This support enabled Al-Asmari to produce high-quality organic millet and is expected to inspire a new generation of small farmers.
