Riyadh Art Completes Installation of Davide Rivalta Sculptures in Riyadh
Riyadh Art, in collaboration with the Italian embassy in Saudi Arabia, announced the completion of the installation of sculptures by Italian artist Davide Rivalta at Al-Nafal Park in the Diplomatic Quarter as part of ongoing efforts to enhance public art and enrich the urban landscape with works that reflect the relationship between humanity and nature.
Under the theme "Echoes of Land," Rivalta's sculptures present a harmonious artistic vision that blends with the surrounding environment. The sculpted animals interact seamlessly with the desert landscape and the oasis-like serenity of Al-Nafal Park, evoking historical connections between these creatures and their natural habitats.
The collection includes sculptures of a cheetah, lion, lioness, and buffalo, appearing in a silent presence that invites contemplation. The installation offers an artistic experience that highlights the interaction between humans and wildlife while emphasizing the importance of environmental conservation and preserving endangered species. Inspired by natural symbols, such as the cheetah—once part of the Arabian Peninsula's ecosystem—the works serve as a reminder of the delicate balance between urban development and nature.
"This collaboration with Davide Rivalta has been a deeply enriching artistic endeavor that aligns with Riyadh Art's vision of engaging the public through impactful and meaningful artwork," Royal Commission for Riyadh City (RCRC) Senior Director of Public Art Omar AlBraik said of the initiative. "Art is not merely an aesthetic element; it is a powerful force capable of reshaping public spaces, sparking conversations, and strengthening the profound connection between individuals and their surroundings in unexpected ways."
"By hosting Rivalta's works in Riyadh, we continue to expand the city's artistic landscape, open new avenues for creativity, and ensure that diverse artistic visions reach all segments of the community," AlBraik said.
The installation at Al-Nafal Park embodies a cultural dialogue in which artistic creativity meets natural heritage, fostering cultural exchange and interaction between art and the environment. It offers an immersive experience that brings elements of wildlife into an urban setting, symbolizing the ongoing relationship between humans and nature and their influence on one another.
The collaboration represents an additional step toward achieving Riyadh Art's objectives, which aim to establish Riyadh as a vibrant open-air gallery by integrating creative works that reflect cultural and artistic diversity, enhancing the visual experience for residents and visitors alike.
Since its launch in 2019, Riyadh Art has introduced over 550 public works, engaged 500 local and international artists, and hosted 6,500 community engagement activities, attracting millions of visitors. The program aspires to expand its collection to over 1,000 works of art, further solidifying the city's cultural identity in alignment with Saudi Vision 2030.
