International Islamic Fiqh Academy Concludes Session on Combating Violence Against Women

A session on the role of religious leaders in confronting violence against women, organized by the International Islamic Fiqh Academy in Jeddah, addressed a range of legal and societal issues related to protecting women from violence.
 Participants underscored the importance of distinguishing between correct Islamic rulings and social practices or erroneous interpretations that may be attributed to religion and stressed the need for a religious discourse that upholds women’s dignity, protects the family, and contributes to strengthening social stability.
 They highlighted religious leaders' responsibility to shape societal awareness and prevent practices that contribute to violence through religious discourse, awareness, and guidance. They also emphasized the importance of raising awareness of women’s status and rights.
 The session concluded after a day of scholarly discussions featuring presentations by scholars, researchers, and specialists from several countries.
