KSrelief Hands Over Agricultural Facilities and Equipment to Support Wheat Production Chain in Eastern Aleppo Countryside

The King Salman Humanitarian Aid and Relief Center (KSrelief) yesterday handed over several agricultural facilities and pieces of equipment under its project to support the wheat production chain in the eastern countryside of Aleppo in the Syrian Arab Republic, with the aim of enhancing food security and improving the livelihoods of farmers.

The interventions included the delivery of a mobile seed-cleaning station with an operational capacity of five tons per hour, in addition to completing the rehabilitation of the seed multiplication warehouse in the Al-Layramoun area of Aleppo Governorate. The warehouse covers an area of approximately 4,000 square meters and has a storage capacity of up to 8,000 tons of improved seeds, contributing to increased production and processing of certified seeds, improved quality of stored and distributed seeds, and reduced post-harvest losses during storage.

The project also included the rehabilitation of three agricultural extension centers in the towns of Tal Allam, Al-Safira, and Tal Aran to provide technical and advisory services to farmers, as well as the delivery of three agricultural tractors with their attachments to the extension centers to provide mechanized farming services and improve land readiness for agricultural seasons.

The project further involved rehabilitating and operating agricultural water pumping stations in the towns of Tal Allam, Tal Hasel, and Umm Amad, and installing solar power systems at the stations. These efforts will help restore irrigation networks, improve water access to targeted agricultural lands, and enhance the sustainability of agricultural production in the eastern Aleppo countryside.

The initiative is part of the Kingdom's humanitarian and relief efforts, carried out through KSrelief, to support food security and empower affected communities in brotherly and friendly countries.
