Two KFUPM Students Awarded Rhodes Scholarships to Study at Oxford University
Two students from King Fahd University of Petroleum and Minerals (KFUPM), Osama Aljohani and Omar Alomran, have won the Rhodes Scholarships for postgraduate studies. They will join the University of Oxford in October 2026 as part of a distinguished cohort of more than 100 students from around the world.
Established in 1902, the Rhodes Scholarship is one of the world’s most prestigious and competitive international scholarships. The selection process involves a rigorous review of academic records and a series of interviews conducted by academics and specialists across various disciplines to identify candidates with exceptional academic performance, leadership abilities, and community engagement.
The achievement underscores KFUPM’s role in empowering its students to realize their academic and research ambitions and in providing a stimulating educational environment supported by targeted initiatives that prepare them to compete at the world’s leading universities. This milestone also reflects the dedication of the university’s faculty members who have provided academic guidance to scholarship candidates.
This success, among many others, reflects the objectives of Saudi Vision 2030, which places education at the heart of national development as a cornerstone for nurturing talent and supporting economic diversification.
