Saudi Reef Strengthens Agricultural Productivity and Rural Economic Growth
The Sustainable Agricultural Rural Development Program (Saudi Reef) launched a series of specialized projects to support and develop several of its sectors by empowering beneficiaries across various regions of the Kingdom through the supply of 99,976 items. These included modern fishing boat engines, satellite-based distress devices, mobile clinics for diagnosing plant pests, rainfed crop-harvesting equipment, modern plows, agricultural machinery and equipment, as well as beekeeping tools, bee packages, and mobile bee clinics. This comes within the framework of achieving developmental and strategic objectives aligned with the program’s goals of increasing production efficiency, enhancing sustainability, and promoting economic development in line with the objectives of Saudi Vision 2030.
Spokesperson of Saudi Reef Majed Al-Buraikan explained that the projects included supplying 450 modern engines to equip the fishing boats of small-scale Saudi fishermen with high-efficiency marine engines, improving the efficiency and reliability of their fishing vessels.
Al-Buraikan added that the projects also included providing four mobile clinics with accessories for diagnosing diseases and pests affecting roses and medicinal plants. These clinics aim to strengthen early detection capabilities and field monitoring of diseases and pests, thereby supporting agricultural sustainability, enhancing the food security ecosystem, and improving plant protection. In addition, 171 modern agricultural machines were supplied to serve and harvest rainfed crops in the Makkah and Jazan regions.
He further pointed out that the supplies included a project to provide modern tools and equipment for beekeepers, through which 1,800 bee packages were distributed across all regions of the Kingdom. This is expected to create a qualitative leap in the beekeeping sector by increasing production efficiency and improving honey quality.
