Saudi Arabia Promotes 'Digital Lifelines' with Global Achievements and Pioneering Readiness on World Telecommunication and Information Society Day

Saudi Arabia joins the international community today in celebrating World Telecommunication and Information Society Day 2026, highlighting the remarkable achievements of its ICT sector. These accomplishments reflect the Kingdom’s realization of the “Digital Lifelines” concept, through its advanced digital infrastructure and regulatory maturity, which have positioned it at the forefront of global indicators.
 The Kingdom has achieved significant qualitative leaps in strengthening the digital economy, making it a fundamental contributor to gross domestic product (GDP). This progress is driven by the leadership of the ICT market, which is the largest and fastest-growing in the region, reflecting the strength of the investment environment and the rapid transition toward an economy based on knowledge and innovation.
 The achievements of digital infrastructure have enhanced the capabilities of the digital society, as the internet now covers all residential areas, with the continuous expansion in extending fiber optic networks to homes, accompanied by the flow of record and fast levels of fixed and mobile internet speeds. In addition, Saudi Arabia maintained its leadership among the Group of Twenty (G20) countries in the total frequency spectrum of mobile communications services, which highlights the efficiency of the vital and innovative use of wireless networks.
 The Kingdom’s leadership in the space sector has evolved by seizing growing opportunities, including becoming the first country in the world to successfully test "Seamless D2D Connectivity." In addition, the Communications, Space and Technology Commission launched the first national Earth Observation (EO) data market, enabling key sectors to benefit from AI-powered image analytics.
 At the international level, the Kingdom has maintained its position as a globally recognized model, securing leading rankings in the Digital Readiness Index and the ICT Development Index (IDI). It has also achieved a leading position in the Digital Regulatory Maturity Index, ranking second globally, underscoring the Kingdom’s readiness for an accelerating digital future with efficiency and confidence.
