Five Cognitive Sites Enrich Experience of Pilgrims, Visitors to the Prophet's Mosque

The corridors and courtyards of the Prophet’s Mosque feature several unique sites and exhibitions that enhance the experience of visitors, including pilgrims, by presenting historical cognitive content that reflects the depth of Islamic heritage and the hospitality of Madinah.

Prominent among these sites is the Exhibition for the Architectural Evolution of the Prophet’s Mosque, located on the southern side of the courtyard opposite Exits 308 and 309. It showcases the stages of the mosque’s architectural development using modern technologies and interactive displays, welcoming visitors daily from 4:00 PM to 10:00 PM.

The southern side of the courtyard also hosts the International Exhibition of the Prophet’s Biography, located opposite Exits 306 and 307. It operates daily from 4:30 PM to 10:30 PM and offers visitors a comprehensive cognitive experience of the life and morals of Prophet Muhammad, presented in a contemporary style that reflects the essence of his message.

In Annex 204 of the southern courtyards, the Rare Manuscripts Exhibition is open from 8:00 AM to 9:00 PM. It features a unique collection of manuscripts, historical documents, and inscriptions that chronicle the development of Islamic writing throughout the ages, enriching visitors’ cultural and cognitive experiences.

The Library of the Prophet's Mosque, situated at Gate 10 on the western side, offers services to visitors 24 hours a day and comprises several sections, such as manuscripts, rare books, an audio library, and specialized art collections.

The Manuscripts and Rare Books Department within the Prophet's Mosque, near the Uthman Gate, serves as an essential destination for researchers and those interested in the subject. It contains more than 4,000 original manuscripts, nearly 60,000 digital manuscripts, 4,600 photocopied manuscripts, and 250 handwritten as well as 200 printed copies of the Quran. It operates in two shifts: morning from 8:00 AM to 12:00 PM, and evening from 4:00 PM to 8:00 PM.

These exhibitions and centers contribute to enhancing the cognitive and cultural value of visiting the Prophet’s Mosque as part of efforts to provide pilgrims with a comprehensive experience.
