GCA Participates in 63rd ASOSAI Governing Board Meeting

General Court of Audit (GCA) President Dr. Hussam Alangari and a number of GCA officials participated in the 63rd Meeting of the Governing Board of the Asian Organization of Supreme Audit Institutions (ASOSAI), held today in Astana, Kazakhstan, attended by heads of supreme audit institutions and members of the board from Asian member states.

 GCA's participation reflects Saudi Arabia's active contribution to the Asian community of public-sector audit institutions, particularly as Saudi Arabia prepares to assume the chairmanship of ASOSAI. The chairmanship will commence with the 17th ASOSAI General Assembly, scheduled to be held in September 2027 in Jeddah, under the patronage of Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques King Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud.

 During the meeting, Dr. Alangari revealed details of the organization's 17th General Assembly, launched the event's official website, and unveiled the official theme of the technical seminar accompanying the General Assembly: “Elevating Public Audit Impact through Stakeholder Engagement”.

 These initiatives form part of Saudi Arabia's early preparations to ensure full readiness to host the leaders of the organization's member Supreme Audit Institutions (SAIs), as well as more than 200 participants representing 48 Asian SAIs and relevant international and regional organizations.

 In his remarks, Dr. Alangari emphasized Saudi Arabia's commitment to leveraging its expertise and international standing during the upcoming session of the ASOSAI General Assembly to make it an exceptional platform for fostering constructive dialogue, strengthening cooperation and partnerships, and contributing to shaping the future of auditing among ASOSAI members and the International Organization of Supreme Audit Institutions (INTOSAI). He expressed his hope to work with all members of the organization to develop a historic declaration that would help shape the future course of public sector auditing in Asia through the "Jeddah Declaration".

 The meeting included a review and discussion of several reports, most notably ASOSAI's strategic plan and professional capacity-building activities, as well as reports from working groups on crisis management, information technology, and data analysis. The meeting also addressed cooperation between ASOSAI and INTOSAI, and other relevant regional organizations, in addition to several other agenda items and the actions required in this regard.

 Prior to the Governing Board meeting, an international scientific conference was held under the title, “State Audit of the Future: Innovations, Digital Transformation, and Sustainable Development.” The conference brought together GCA delegation, heads and members of Asian delegations, and representatives of several relevant international organizations.

 On the sidelines of the meetings, the president of GCA held several bilateral meetings with heads of peer supreme audit institutions in friendly Asian countries, which focused on ways to strengthen bilateral cooperation and enhance joint efforts among peer SAIs in the fields of financial and performance auditing.
