Exemption for Export Service Boosts Non-Oil Exports, Enhances Global Competitiveness of Saudi Industry
The Saudi Export Development Authority, in cooperation with the Ministry of Industry and Mineral Resources, is working to enhance the competitiveness of the national industrial sector and expand the presence of Saudi products in global markets through a range of services and initiatives.
Notably, they introduced the customs exemption for export service in October 2024 to enable industrial enterprises to boost their competitiveness and reduce production costs related to exports, thereby contributing to the growth of non-oil exports and advancing the goals of Saudi Vision 2030, which seeks to diversify the economic base.
This service allows industrial establishments to obtain customs exemption for inputs linked to products that were actually exported during the previous twelve months, based on the ratio of exports to the licensed production capacity stated in the industrial license.
The service constitutes an additional incentive for factories demonstrating sustained export performance and supports the expansion of their operations at the international level.
To benefit from the service, an establishment must hold a valid industrial license, and the materials for which exemption is requested must be included in the list of industrial capabilities approved by the ministry.
These materials must also be listed in the industrial license documentation, along with export data obtained from the Zakat, Tax and Customs Authority for the past year.
The service is provided electronically through the Senaei platform, using simplified steps that allow beneficiaries to apply, upload documents, and track their requests directly, reflecting the efficiency of the service in meeting manufacturers' needs.
It is a complementary track to the customs exemption service, available in cases where traditional exemption is not applicable due to the materials being listed as restricted. It offers industrial establishments an alternative pathway based on the efficiency of their export performance.
