King Abdulaziz Reserve Initiates Beekeeping Permit Issuance Under New Regulations
The King Abdulaziz Royal Reserve Development Authority has announced the issuing of permits for beekeeping within the reserve's geographical area. This significant step aims to regulate this vital activity, fostering environmental balance and preserving the vegetation and wildlife within the reserve.
Beekeepers wishing to operate within the reserve can now apply for a permit through the authority's official website, where a dedicated platform has been established for receiving applications and issuing permits, ensuring quick and transparent access to services. The application portal is accessible via: https://karrda.gov.sa/services/apiary.
To obtain a permit, applicants must meet several requirements, primarily attaching a national ID or residency permit and submitting a beekeeper license issued by the Ministry of Environment, Water and Agriculture. Only local beekeeping is permitted, with strict adherence to approved veterinary health requirements.
To ensure environmental protection within the reserve, the authority mandates compliance with newly approved regulations for beekeeping activities. These regulations prohibit the use of pesticides and chemicals, the felling of trees, or any harm to local plants. Specific sites are designated for beekeepers, and signs displaying the permit number and beekeeper information are required. The authority stressed that designated sites must not be rented or exploited for purposes other than beekeeping, and cleanliness must be maintained while adhering to specified routes to prevent damage to the vegetation cover.
The authority emphasized that permit issuance is subject to periodic monitoring. It reserves the right to inspect beehives to verify compliance and will take disciplinary action against violators, which includes revoking permits and destroying irregular hives.
