KACST Awarded First Place in the Global Project Excellence Award 2025 for Its 5G Network Project
King Abdulaziz City for Science and Technology (KACST) has achieved a new milestone by winning first place in the Global Project Excellence Award 2025 in the Global Project Management Forum for the best Technology Project category. This award recognizes its pioneering efforts to develop a 5G network based on Open Radio Access Network (Open RAN) technology and secured with post-quantum encryption.
On this occasion, Senior Vice President of KACST for Research and Development Dr. Talal bin Ahmed Al-Sedairy expressed his pride in this achievement. He emphasized that the award reflects KACST’s ongoing efforts to develop innovative solutions in the fields of communications and digital transformation. He emphasized that these efforts contribute to achieving the goals of Saudi Vision 2030 and the national aspirations to build a knowledge-based economy driven by innovation.
According to the KACST press release, this honor reflects the role of the Enterprise Project Management Office at KACST, which has implemented the highest standards of governance and organizational excellence in managing technological projects and standardizing planning, execution, and monitoring methodologies in line with global best practices.
