Poultry Meat: A Staple on Ramadan Tables in Saudi Arabia with Over 1 Million Tons of Production
Poultry has long been a staple on Ramadan iftar tables across Saudi Arabia. The Ministry of Environment, Water, and Agriculture has reported that local poultry meat production exceeds 1 million tons, demonstrating the Kingdom's capacity to meet domestic demand while generating a surplus for potential exports. This abundance contributes to the country's food security.
Marking this Ramadan, the ministry has launched the "Our Table from Our Land" campaign, encouraging the consumption of local food products during Ramadan month. The campaign highlights that Saudi Arabia has attained a self-sufficiency rate of 72% in poultry meat, reinforcing the Kingdom's role as a key player in ensuring food security. The ministry remains committed to enhancing the poultry sector by supporting local investments and promoting sustainable production practices to further increase self-sufficiency, aligning with the objectives of Vision 2030.
With the surge in demand for food products during Ramadan, the ministry is actively coordinating with national companies to ensure market stability and secure supply chains. This includes continuous monitoring of production levels to guarantee an adequate supply that meets consumer needs. Additionally, the ministry is intensifying its regulatory efforts through ongoing field inspections to ensure compliance with health and environmental standards, thereby guaranteeing the availability of safe and high-quality products. This approach aims to stabilize markets and reinforce food security.
