Tajikistan Embassy receives community members to vote in the parliamentary elections

The Embassy of the Republic of Tajikistan in Riyadh opened a polling center for members of the Tajik community residing in the Kingdom to vote in the legislative elections, as the voting process began on the morning of March 2, 2025, and continue until 8 pm in the evening of the same day. The Republic of Tajikistan was holding the legislative elections to elect deputies to the Majlisi Namoyandagon of the Majlisi Oli (Parliament).

In a press statement, Ambassador of Tajikistan to Saudi Arabia, Akram Karimi, said that the embassy, in coordination with the Saudi Ministry of Foreign Affairs, opened the polling center at the embassy, which was the only polling center in the Kingdom for the voters of the Tajik community living and working in this country.

The Tajik ambassador expressed his sincere thanks and appreciation to the Saudi Foreign Ministry and the competent authorities in the Kingdom for their good cooperation and coordination and for creating an appropriate atmosphere for conducting the electoral process at the embassy.




The Majlisi Namoyandagon of the Majlisi Oli (Parliament) of the Republic of Tajikistan consists of 63 deputies elected by ballot boxes. Six political parties officially registered in the country and participated in the legislative elections. A total of 220 candidates, including representatives from six political parties and some independents, are competing for 63 seats in the lower house.

Tajikistan's President Emomali Rahmon, leader of the ruling People's Democratic Party, cast his ballot on Sunday morning at polling station No. 15 in the capital city of Dushanbe. According to data released by Tajikistan's Central Election Commission (CEC), the country currently has more than five million registered voters.

There were 3,513 polling stations nationwide, along with 36 overseas polling stations. Forty-one seats out of all 63 seats in the lower house will be elected from among 152 candidates across 41 constituencies, while the remaining 22 seats were contested by 68 candidates nominated by the six parties which are participating in the elections.

More than 229 international observers from various international organizations are monitoring the elections. In addition, more than 203 representatives of local and foreign media are covering the elections. Polling stations located in Tajikistan were closed on March 2 at 20:00 local time. Preliminary results will be announced within a few hours after the end of voting, and the final results — no later than two weeks after the end of the elections.
