Roads General Authority: Traffic Diversion Safety Evaluation Rate Increases to 95%

The Roads General Authority (RGA) announced an increase in the traffic diversion safety evaluation rate this year compared to last, attributing it to the rise in road maintenance projects across the Kingdom.
This improvement is part of the RGA’s efforts to enhance traffic safety across the road network, in line with the classification of the International Road Assessment Program (iRAP).
The RGA reported that inspection tours of maintenance projects have helped raise the traffic diversion safety evaluation rate on the Kingdom's roads from 68% at the beginning of 2023 to 95% currently. These evaluations included approximately 590 field visits per month to cover all traffic diversions, alongside the use of the latest technologies, such as drones, to ensure quick and accurate results.
The RGA confirmed its commitment to continuing vital projects and initiatives aimed at upgrading the roads sector. These efforts are part of the broader strategy to achieve the goals of the roads sector strategy, including attaining 6th place in the global road quality index by 2030, reducing road deaths to fewer than 5 per 100,000 people, and maintaining high service levels across the road networks.
