Beterbiev and Bivol Express Readiness to Win the Undisputed Light Heavyweight World Title

The first press conference for the "IV Crown Showdown" bout was held this evening (Wednesday) in the British capital, London. This highly anticipated event, which will mark the opening of the 2024 Riyadh Season, promises fans a major sporting spectacle and an epic clash between two undefeated boxing champions throughout their illustrious careers. The showdown will take place on October 12 at the "Kingdom Arena," where Russian fighters Artur Beterbiev and Dmitry Bivol will face off for the undisputed World Light Heavyweight Championship.

Amid global anticipation, tickets for the opening ceremony of the fifth edition of Riyadh Season and the "IV Crown Showdown" bout were released today. Fans can reserve their tickets for this global event through the webook platform, which is dedicated to selling tickets for the season's events.

At the press conference, where both boxers showed high readiness, WBA champion Dmitry Bivol said, "I am honored to return to compete at Kingdom Arena in Riyadh, a venue that has now become one of the greatest arenas globally for boxing matches. October 12 will be an unforgettable night for boxing fans, and I am grateful to Riyadh Season for giving me the chance to achieve my dream of unifying all the belts."

Meanwhile, WBC, WBO, and IBF champion Artur Beterbiev emphasized that no event has contributed to the growth of boxing as much as Riyadh Season has over the past 12 months. He added, "It’s an honor to be part of this year’s opening night celebrations. I’m ready to claim another belt and become the undisputed champion."

In the other fights, British silver medalist from the 2020 Olympics, Ben Whittaker, will face fellow countryman Liam Cameron in the light heavyweight category. Additionally, Riyadh Season will witness its first-ever women's boxing fight, as Australia's Skye Nicholson takes on Britain's Raven Chapman in a featherweight bout.

The audience will also be treated to a special and significant fight featuring Saudi boxer Mohammed Al-Aqel against Mexico’s Jesús González in the welterweight category, adding a unique and national flavor to this global event.
