International Film Criticism Conference 2025 Concludes in Riyadh
The Film Commission concluded its third annual International Film Criticism Conference, held over three days at the Cultural Palace in Riyadh.
The conference brought together a distinguished group of critics, academics, and filmmakers from within the Kingdom and abroad who shared insights on the relationship between cinema and place, as well as the role of criticism in shaping cinematic meaning.
The conference is part of a series of criticism forums organized by the Film Commission this year in Abha, Al-Qatif, and Riyadh, aimed to strengthen the role of film criticism in the development of the film industry. It sought to promote knowledge exchange between critics and filmmakers and solidify the Kingdom’s position as a leading cultural hub in the cinematic scene by fostering a critical environment aligned with international industry developments.
The conference’s third edition represented a significant milestone in the Saudi cinematic landscape, reinforcing the Kingdom’s presence as an active platform for critical dialogue and international knowledge exchange. It also offered a scientific and cultural program that showcased the support dedicated to film production, highlighted critical awareness as a cornerstone of artistic development, and enriched the national cultural experience.
