Asian Road and Para Road Championships Kick Off in Qassim for the First Time in Saudi Arabia

The Asian Road and Para Road Championships 2026 officially kicked off on Thursday in Qassim Region, marking the first time the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia has hosted the event. The championships are organized by the Saudi Cycling Federation under the supervision of the Asian Cycling Confederation and will run from February 5 to 13.

 The continental event features wide participation from more than 30 Asian countries, with over 500 male and female athletes competing, making it one of Asia’s premier cycling championships. The program includes 34 races, with Asia’s elite cyclists competing for a total of 102 medals.

 The championships cover a total race distance exceeding 1,500 kilometers over nine days of continuous competition. Events are being held at venues equipped with advanced sports infrastructure and high organizational capabilities, reflecting the Kingdom’s growing expertise in hosting major continental and international sporting events.

 The program also includes para road competitions, with 76 male and female athletes with disabilities participating, highlighting Saudi Arabia’s commitment to inclusivity and athlete empowerment across all categories.

 At the conclusion of today’s races, medal winners were honored in a ceremony reflecting the championship’s significance and continental stature.

 The competitions will continue over the coming days amid strong anticipation, with Asia’s top cyclists competing in an event that underscores Saudi Arabia’s ability to organize major championships in line with the highest international standards.
