Roads Authority, WRTH Showcase Traditional Arts on Hijrah Road
The Roads General Authority, in collaboration with the Royal Institute for Traditional Arts (WRTH), has completed the "Saudi WRTH Billboards" project along the route between Makkah and Madinah, specifically on the Hijrah Road. The project highlights traditional crafts and arts through a contemporary visual lens, in line with the Year of Handicrafts 2025 and in preparation for welcoming pilgrims during the Hajj season 1446 AH.
The initiative features designs inspired by traditional motifs and heritage patterns, including crafts such as weaving, to reflect national identity. The billboards are adorned with illustrations showcasing the beauty of local crafts and regional patterns, aiming to enrich the cultural experience of pilgrims and support heritage tourism along this historic route.
Saudi Arabia boasts one of the world's largest and most interconnected road networks, facilitating the movement of pilgrims and visitors to the Kingdom's tourist destinations. This enhances the opportunity to present the Kingdom's cultural heritage by showcasing Saudi crafts across different regions.
