Electric and Manual Carts in the Grand Mosque to Facilitate Movement of Umrah Performers
In preparation for the holy month of Ramadan, the General Presidency for the Affairs of the Grand Mosque and the Prophet's Mosque increased the number of electric golf carts to 400, each featuring a unified visual identity that reflects the unique character of the Grand Mosque.
The presidency also introduced enhanced manual carts with special designs to better meet the needs of Umrah performers during Ramadan. These carts provide a comfortable and efficient means of transportation, helping worshipers move through the mosque with ease during the peak season.
The Grand Mosque now features several types of carts, including free manual carts located in the eastern courtyard (Bab al-Salam No. 19) and the western courtyard (Al-Shabika Bridge, Gate 64). Paid manual carts are available at strategic locations such as the ground path (Gate 14), the path on the first floor, the number ladder (Gate 16), and the western courtyard (Al-Shabika Bridge, Gate 64) as well as the southern courtyard (near Toilet No. 2).
Additionally, electric golf carts can be reserved directly from designated points in the mosque's squares. These carts are available at the western square (Al-Shabika Bridge, Gate 64), Ajyad Bridge (Gate 4), and Ajyad Stairs (from the first floor, Gate 4). They are particularly beneficial for the elderly, people with disabilities, and anyone who may have difficulty walking through the mosque.
The service plays a key role in organizing the movement of visitors and alleviating congestion, especially during the crowded Ramadan season. The electric golf cart service is also provided free of charge for people with disabilities.
