Establishments with Fewer Than 250 Targeted Workers Required to Provide Licensed Group Accommodation Starting February 2027

The National Program for Developing Group Housing for Individuals has stressed the importance of establishments with fewer than 250 targeted workers complying with regulations and correcting their worker accommodation arrangements by meeting legal requirements and providing licensed group accommodation before the final phase of the mandatory requirement takes effect on February 1, 2027.

The program noted that the remaining period before the requirement takes effect serves as a corrective grace period, allowing establishments to complete the necessary requirements. It reaffirmed its commitment to supporting establishments and enabling them to regularize their arrangements in accordance with approved regulatory procedures.

The program said establishments can regularize worker accommodation through one of two approved options. The first involves obtaining a group accommodation license for an establishment-owned building through approved licensing platforms, after meeting the applicable health, technical, and safety requirements. The second involves contracting licensed group accommodation units that have already been approved.

The program stressed the need for establishments to promptly complete licensing procedures or contract licensed accommodation providers during the corrective grace period.

It called on establishments covered by the requirement to take advantage of the grace period and complete the necessary procedures through approved platforms or select licensed accommodation units.
