Frankincense Tree Cultivation in Najran Boosts Agricultural Diversity, Value
The cultivation of frankincense trees in Najran Region stands as a unique agricultural experiment, underscoring human capacity to reintroduce and enhance natural resources successfully. This effort aligns directly with the goals of Saudi Vision 2030, which prioritizes investing in natural and environmental resources and promoting the diversity of agricultural products that hold distinct economic and environmental value.
Frankincense tree cultivation has achieved notable success in Najran over the past years, thanks to the region's unique environmental characteristics, including its rich soil and a climate conducive to the growth of various new plants.
Farmer Mohammed Tissan told the Saudi Press Agency (SPA) that cultivation has met high environmental and agricultural standards, enabling the successful propagation of the trees through cuttings. He noted that he has planted more than 100 trees and is now working with other farmers in the region to share his experience, encouraging the cultivation of frankincense trees in various suitable agricultural environments within the region and its governorates.
