Saudi Film Nights Debuts in Mexico
The Saudi Film Commission, one of 11 sector-specific commissions under the Saudi Ministry of Culture, announced Saudi Film Nights in Mexico, taking place from May 6 to 11. The edition follows the success of previous Saudi Film Nights held in France, Morocco, Australia, China, and India that garnered significant attendance and featured the participation of multiple influential figures in the film industry. Through the event, the Film Commission supports and showcases local talents while fostering global cultural exchange.
The event will take place in Mexico City, Guadalajara, and Monterrey. It will feature the screening of four notable Saudi films: the feature films “My Driver and I” by director Ahd Kamel and “Holes” by director Abdulmohsen Aldhabaan, and the short films “Fishbowl” by director Reema Almajid and “Mera Mera Mera” by director Khaled Zidan. The films will be followed by panel discussions with the participating filmmakers and talents.
The films will be screened at some of Mexico’s most prominent cultural and cinematic venues. In Mexico City, screenings will be held at Cineteca Nacional, one of the country’s most influential and prestigious cinematic institutions. In Guadalajara, the event will take place at Cineteca FICG, the main venue of the Guadalajara International Film Festival, a vibrant platform celebrating global cinematic exchange. In Monterrey, the event will be hosted at Cineteca Nuevo León, a renowned independent cinema that serves as a vital hub for film enthusiasts and plays a pivotal role in encouraging film education and dialogue.
The initiatives reaffirm the Saudi Film Commission’s efforts to further advance the film sector, and support and showcase local talent.
