Human Resources Ministry Lifts Ban on Working under Sunlight

The Ministry of Human Resources and Social Development, in coordination with the National Council for Occupational Safety and Health, has announced the end of the decision banning work under direct sunlight across all establishments, a regulation that had been in effect for three months, from June 15 to September 15, between 12 p.m. and 3 p.m.
The decision reflects the ministry and council’s commitment to safeguarding workers by ensuring a safe and healthy work environment aligned with occupational standards and best practices.
During the implementation period, the ministry intensified field inspection campaigns across the Kingdom to verify compliance. This year, establishments achieved a 94% compliance rate, with 29,121 inspection visits carried out and several monitoring campaigns conducted. A total of 2,414 violations were recorded, while the ministry also responded to 325 reports received from the public.
Meanwhile, the council launched a broad awareness campaign, disseminating educational materials and guidance through its social media platforms to raise awareness among employers and workers about the importance of adhering to the decision and following preventive measures to safeguard workers’ health.
The ministry and the council emphasized that these awareness and monitoring efforts are part of an integrated system designed to enhance a culture of prevention, achieve full compliance with regulations, and ensure worker safety across all workplaces, in line with the Saudi Vision 2030 goals of improving the work environment and advancing occupational health and safety standards.
