Emergency Surgery at Hira Hospital Saves Afghan Pilgrim's Life
A specialized medical team at Hira General Hospital, part of the Makkah Health Cluster, performed emergency surgery yesterday to save an Afghan pilgrim who was experiencing severe abdominal pain due to a duodenal perforation. This rapid intervention, carried out under the urgent care system, successfully closed the perforation and removed an abdominal abscess.
The health cluster noted that the patient was admitted through the emergency department in critical condition. Immediate examinations and imaging were conducted, along with an exploratory abdominal procedure, which revealed a perforation in the duodenum and an associated abscess that was causing the intense pain.
Following admission, the patient underwent a successful surgical operation performed by a specialized medical team. He received the necessary treatments, and it was determined that he could be discharged upon completing his treatment plan. The patient has recovered and is now able to continue performing the Hajj rituals.
