Netflix and Righters House Launch “Write The Future” to Support merging Screenwriting Talent in Saudi Arabia

Netflix and Righters House announced the launch of Write the Future - Feature Film Writers Lab, a three-city screenwriting program designed to support and develop emerging writers across Saudi Arabia. The initiative is part of Netflix’s ongoing commitment to support new voices, strengthen talent pipelines, and contribute meaningfully to the long-term development of the film industry in Saudi Arabia and the region.

“Screenwriting is at the heart of storytelling,  and investing in writers is one of the most meaningful ways we can support the future of storytelling. Through Write the Future, we are focused on building skills, creating access to industry expertise, and supporting emerging voices across Saudi Arabia. This initiative reflects our continued effort to contribute to a sustainable creative ecosystem by nurturing talent at an early stage and helping writers develop the tools, confidence, and craft needed to bring their stories to life.” Pelin Mavili, Director of Global Affairs for Middle East, North Africa & Turkey at Netflix.

The program will take place across Asir, Al Madinah, and the Eastern Province regions, bringing hands-on training and professional guidance directly to the creative communities. Over a three-month period, selected participants will take part in a structured development journey combining online masterclasses, in-person writer’s labs, and pitch preparation with a focus on building market-ready feature film projects.

"We believe the Kingdom is rich with untold stories, but talent needs structure and guidance. Our partnership with Netflix on 'Write the Future' is a strategic step to empower writers living in the Kingdom with global storytelling tools, bridging the gap between creative potential and professional industry standards." Rulan Hasan, Co-Founder & Head of Content

The lab will support 18 participants, offering tailored training and mentorship across key areas of screenwriting craft, including story development, character building, structure, and pitching. Each participant will complete a full feature-film development package, including a logline, synopsis, treatment, pitch deck, and a recorded pitch, equipping them with the tools needed to progress their projects within the industry. The program will be delivered in Arabic. To learn more and apply, visit the following link
