ALECSO Executive Council Concludes 124th Session
The Executive Council of the Arab League Educational, Cultural and Scientific Organization (ALECSO), chaired by Saudi Arabia, adopted several resolutions during its 124th session in Cairo on December 3–4.
These resolutions included the formation of a committee to develop the organization’s governance framework, the establishment of a committee to draft a general mechanism for selecting experts, the approval of the 2026 joint training program, and the creation of the Arab Center for Career Development.
During the session, Arab member states commended the Kingdom for its role in advancing the work of the committee tasked with developing the General Conference mechanism. Proposed and chaired by the Kingdom since January 2025, the committee has made notable progress in identifying existing challenges and proposing practical solutions. The council recommended that the committee submit its final report to the General Conference in March 2026.
At the conclusion of the session, member states agreed to hold an extraordinary meeting in March 2026 to review the organization’s budget. The move aims to allow additional time for consultation and coordination, ensuring that the observations and recommendations of member states and relevant committees are fully taken into account.
The meeting witnessed strong and active participation from all Arab states in proposing initiatives, adopting resolutions, and working collectively toward their implementation. This engagement reflects the continued momentum of the council’s work and its commitment to advancing the organization’s objectives in the fields of education, culture, and science.
