Represented by CST, Saudi Arabia Participates in World Telecommunication Development Conference

Saudi Arabia, represented by the Communications, Space and Technology Commission (CST), participated in the World Telecommunication Development Conference (WTDC-25) in Baku, organized by the International Telecommunication Union (ITU) under the theme "Universal, meaningful, and affordable connectivity for an inclusive and sustainable digital future."

 The conference was attended by Secretary-General of the ITU Doreen Bogdan-Martin, Saudi Ambassador to the Republic of Azerbaijan Essam Saleh Algetale, and senior telecommunications officials from member countries.

 During his speech, the head of the Saudi delegation, Deputy Governor of Telecom Sector Eng. Abdullah AlMubadal reaffirmed that Saudi Arabia is committed to its leading role in supporting digital development worldwide. He also highlighted the Connecting Humanity Action Blueprint, introduced by the Kingdom in partnership with the ITU during the Global Symposium for Regulators 2025 (GSR-25), which aims to provide innovative, affordable solutions to bridge the global digital gap and promote inclusion and socio-economic development.

 He showcased the Kingdom's efforts to empower women and enhance human capacity through the 'Building a Network of Women Leaders' initiative, along with the innovative digital economy regulation program that benefited more than 1,000 participants from 100 countries, promoting digital transformation and enabling communities.

 He concluded his speech by emphasizing the Kingdom's dedication to leveraging its capabilities and expertise for the benefit of the international community, through its re-nomination for membership on the ITU Council for the 2027–2030 term at the upcoming Plenipotentiary Conference (PP-26) in Qatar.

 On the sidelines of the conference, Saudi Arabia, represented by General Manager of International Affairs at CST Eng. Muath AlRumayh, chaired the conference's Third Committee, responsible for setting the goals and strategic direction of the Telecommunication Development Sector.

 Taking place every four years, the WTDC organized by the ITU aims to set global priorities and strategies for developing the telecommunications and technology sector, while focusing on the needs of developing countries and bridging the digital divide. The conference brings together leaders from the public and private sectors, as well as representatives of relevant international and regional organizations.
