A Night Among Juniper Trees Reveals Another Side of Taif’s Mountains
The highlands of Taif, particularly around Al-Shafa and Al-Hada, offer a camping experience among ancient juniper trees, rock formations, and natural trails. Visitors can enjoy the tranquillity of the mountains and changing scenery between sunset and morning.
The experience includes overnight stays in nature, hiking, photography, and exploring the area’s ecological diversity. Depending on weather conditions, clouds and mist may cover parts of the mountain slopes.
Hiking and camping supervisor with the “Hike and Seek” team Adel Fayraq told the Saudi Press Agency that camping allows visitors to engage directly with the mountain landscape and discover its details at different times of day. He noted that campsite selection depends on terrain, weather, and accessibility, while taking safety and environmental preservation into account.
Fayraq emphasized the importance of protecting ancient trees, their roots and branches, and surrounding vegetation. He also stressed the need to comply with regulations, obtain permits where required, and choose authorized camping sites away from flood channels and dangerous slopes to support the sustainability of the tourism experience.
