Diriyah Company Receives British Safety Council’s Sword of Honor and Five-Star Rating

Diriyah Company has achieved a major international milestone after being awarded the prestigious Sword of Honor by the British Safety Council, following its attainment of a Five-Star rating in the comprehensive occupational health and safety audit. The achievement makes Diriyah Company the first developer in the region to receive this distinguished international recognition.
According to a press release issued by the Diriyah Company today, the award reflects the company’s strong commitment to applying the highest global standards in occupational health and safety across all phases of development and execution, ensuring a safe and sustainable working environment for an average workforce of approximately 50,000 employees, in addition to managing and operating more than 2,500 heavy-duty machines across its development sites.
On this occasion, Group Chief Executive Officer of Diriyah Company Jerry Inzerillo emphasized that occupational safety is a core pillar of the project’s operations, not merely an operational priority. He noted that the recognition embodies the company’s commitment to implementing advanced health and safety systems and establishing leading benchmarks in risk management and crisis response, ensuring the protection of employees, contractors, and on-site teams.
To date, Diriyah Company has recorded a Total Recordable Incident Rate (TRIR) of 0.017 across its ongoing infrastructure projects, reflecting the effectiveness of its safety framework and supporting its strategic direction toward building to international standards, safeguarding human capital, and contributing to the realization of Saudi Vision 2030.
The Five-Star Audit is a comprehensive, measurable assessment that benchmarks occupational health and safety management systems against global best practices. As part of the evaluation, Diriyah Company underwent an extensive review covering policies, procedures, and operations, in addition to interviews with executive leadership, employees, and stakeholders, field assessments of operational activities, and an evaluation of more than 50 key elements of the safety management system.
The Sword of Honor and Five-Star rating represent the highest levels of international recognition for excellence in health and safety management, underscoring Diriyah Company’s commitment to safety, people protection, and long-term operational sustainability.
Diriyah is expected to contribute approximately SAR70 billion directly to the Kingdom’s gross domestic product, generate more than 180,000 job opportunities, and accommodate around 100,000 residents. The project will also include modern office spaces and cultural and educational facilities, such as museums, a university, an opera house, Diriyah Arena, hospitality destinations, restaurants, and around 40 world-class hotels and resorts within its master plans.
