GCA President Chairs Meetings of PFAC and the IDSC of INTOSAI in Collaboration with the World Bank in Washington

President of the General Court of Audit (GCA) Dr. Hussam Alangari chaired the 23rd meeting of the Policy, Finance, and Administration Committee (PFAC) of the International Organization of Supreme Audit Institutions (INTOSAI) in his capacity as Committee Chair. He also chaired the 19th meeting of the INTOSAI Donor Steering Committee (IDSC) in his capacity as Co-Chair representing INTOSAI, alongside the World Bank, which co-chairs on behalf of the donor community. Both meetings were held at the World Bank headquarters in Washington, D.C.

 Opening the Donor Steering Committee meeting on Thursday, Dr. Alangari commended the Committee’s achievements in empowering Supreme Audit Institutions (SAIs) and strengthening their independence. He emphasized the importance of sustaining the fruitful partnership between INTOSAI, led by GCA, and the donor community, led by the World Bank, to deliver essential support to SAIs across developing nations. The meeting covered key topics and initiatives on the Committee’s agenda, reviewed its strategic direction, and examined updates on the Global SAI Accountability Initiative (GSAI) as well as the findings and recommendations of the Global SAI Independence Project.

 On Friday, Dr. Alangari opened PFAC meeting by reaffirming its commitment to providing steadfast support to the INTOSAI community, furthering its goals, and advancing global efforts to promote transparency across SAIs. The session was attended by the heads of peer member SAIs from the United States, the United Kingdom, Brazil, Egypt, Austria, South Africa, India, Sweden, the Czech Republic, Indonesia, and Norway. Delegates addressed key agenda items, including the General Secretariat’s report on INTOSAI’s financial status, GCA’s primary report highlighting major achievements and activities since the last meeting, and updates from the Chairs of INTOSAI's strategic goals.

 The Committee also reviewed reports from the Professional Standards Committee, Capacity Building Committee, Knowledge Sharing Committee, Policy Committee on Emerging Issues, and the INTOSAI Development Initiative (IDI).

 GCA’s chairmanship of these principal INTOSAI committees reflects its active leadership, extensive international and regional presence in the audit and accounting sectors, and Saudi Arabia’s prominent global standing across multiple domains.
