Indonesian People’s Consultative Assembly Hosts the Secretary General of the Muslim World League

He delivered a lecture on Islamic and human commonalities and ways to promote coexistence.

The Speaker of the Indonesian People’s Consultative Assembly (MPR), H.E. Ahmad Muzani, hosted the Secretary General of the Muslim World League and Chairman of the Association of Muslim Scholars, H.E. Sheikh Dr. Muhammad bin Abdulkarim Al-Issa, at the Assembly’s headquarters in the capital, Jakarta. The meeting was attended by the Vice Speakers and members of the Assembly, as well as a diverse group of religious, governmental, and intellectual leaders from various provinces across Indonesia.
During the visit, an extended dialogue took place between the Secretary General and the Speaker, Vice Speakers, and committee heads, addressing several issues related to the MWL's international mission.
Following the discussion, the Secretary General delivered a lecture focusing on Islamic and human commonalities and on ways to enhance coexistence and cooperation in religiously and ethnically diverse societies, highlighting the inclusive spirit and core values of Islam.
He praised the Indonesian model, which harmoniously aligns with modern times while taking great pride in its religious identity and preserving its societal cohesion under the banner of its unified national state.
For his part, the Speaker of the Indonesian People’s Consultative Assembly, Ahmad Muzani, affirmed that the strength of Indonesian society in facing disasters and challenges stems from the power of its values and the spirit of solidarity instilled by scholars and religious leaders in the country.
He noted that Indonesia’s vast diversity, spanning thousands of islands, hundreds of languages and ethnicities, and six religions, has long served as a foundation of national unity since the declaration of independence. He added that the Secretary General’s participation in this dialogue offers an opportunity to highlight the Indonesian model of coexistence, emphasizing that scholars and spiritual leaders have played the most profound role in preserving this national harmony.
