AI, the New Frontier of Journalism and Media

Artificial intelligence (AI) is transforming the media industry, with its technologies being widely adopted to accelerate content production, improve quality, and enhance audience engagement. This increasing reliance on AI is driving a radical shift in how news is gathered, created, and distributed.

The integration of AI into media platforms has facilitated the development of big data analytics tools, providing deeper insights into audience interests and preferences. Machine learning techniques are also crucial for analyzing user interaction on social media, allowing media organizations to tailor content more effectively to meet audience needs.

The Saudi Media Forum, held in Riyadh from February 19 to 21, explored the impact of AI on journalism and media production. Sessions focused on how AI can automate editorial processes. Discussions ranged from text editing and linguistic proofreading to the use of virtual reality (VR) to create immersive, interactive content that enhances audience understanding.

Participating organizations showcased practical examples of AI's use in monitoring and analyzing social media interactions, providing accurate statistics on news dissemination and trending topics. An analysis by Al-Qarar Center for Media Studies revealed that the Saudi Media Forum hashtag on the "X" platform generated over 3.6 billion impressions, demonstrating the power of these technologies in measuring media content reach.

This rapid adoption of AI reflects media institutions' commitment to embracing modern technologies for increased efficiency and impact. As digital transformation continues, AI remains a key factor in shaping the future of media, improving the speed and accuracy of information delivery while upholding quality and credibility.
