First in Middle East: Makkah Medical City Implants World's Smallest Hearing Aid
King Abdullah Medical City (KAMC), part of the Makkah Health Cluster, has successfully implanted the world’s smallest osseointegrated hearing aid using ultra-precise technology on a patient in her 20s, marking the first procedure of its kind in the Kingdom and the Middle East and highlighting the city’s commitment to advanced medical technologies and the Health Sector Transformation Program under Vision 2030.
Following a detailed clinical and technical evaluation, the new osseointegrated device was successfully implanted. The patient responded immediately after the procedure in the clinic, experiencing a significant improvement in her hearing ability.
KAMC stated that the implanted device, the smallest available and representing the latest advancement in cochlear implant technology, offers patients greater comfort and a more natural hearing experience. Powered by an advanced Slimset Sound Processor, it delivers high accuracy and clarity across a wider frequency range, resulting in richer sound quality and more precise perception in everyday environments.
This success reflects KAMC’s ongoing commitment to developing specialized, precise services and innovative medical solutions, aligning with its strategy to enhance quality of life. It also reinforces KAMC’s position as a leading center of medical excellence and a beacon for advanced health services in the region, supporting the goals of the Health Sector Transformation under Vision 2030.
