ZATCA Thwarts Attempt to Smuggle 1,482,132 Captagon Pills at Jeddah Islamic Port
The Zakat, Tax and Customs Authority (ZATCA) at the Jeddah Islamic Port has successfully thwarted the smuggling of 1,482,132 Captagon pills that were concealed within an incoming consignment to the Kingdom.
ZATCA stated that the consignment arrived at Jeddah Islamic Port and was described as a "machine used to rotate laundry." During customs procedures, security techniques and live monitoring revealed a quantity of pills concealed within the consignment. After the seizure process was completed and in coordination with the General Directorate of Narcotics Control, the individuals intended to receive the seized items in the Kingdom were arrested.
ZATCA emphasized that it continues to tighten customs control over the Kingdom's imports and exports, acting to combat smuggling in all its forms to achieve one of the most important pillars of its strategy represented in the security and protection of the society.
The authority has called on the public to contribute to combating smuggling and protect society and the national economy by contacting the authority's designated number for security reports on 1910, e-mail 1910@zatca.gov.sa, or the international number 009661910. The authority receives reports related to smuggling crimes and violations of the Common Customs Law in strict confidentiality, with a financial reward given to the informer if the information proves accurate.
