Roads General Authority's Strategy Yields Significant Milestones

The Roads General Authority (RGA) has made significant strides in organizing, and improving road quality and safety in the 500 days since it launched its road sector strategy, which prioritizes safety, quality, and traffic management.
By setting policies, standards, and procedures for the road sector, the authority has achieved notable milestones. Among its achievements, RGA opened a regional office for the International Road Assessment Program (IRAP) to boost international cooperation in road safety, completed the world's largest road safety survey, which confirms that over 77% of Saudi Arabia's roads now meet rigorous safety standards, and set up a road safety data center to collect and analyze accident data, and come up with effective plans to reduce the number of accidents.
RGA has improved Saudi Arabia's road infrastructure; the road quality index reached 5.7, placing the country among the top five G20 nations in the field. By adopting performance-based maintenance contracts and advanced bridge management systems, RGA is ensuring the longevity and safety of the country’s road network.
Furthermore, the authority has excelled in project execution, with a road projects completion rate exceeding 90%. This underscores the strategy's effectiveness in achieving objectives and enhancing Saudi Arabia's global position as a key logistics hub.
RGA aims to secure a top-six global ranking in road quality, reduce road fatality rates, and increase private sector involvement in road operations. It is focused on implementing road safety measures across the network, according to IRAP specifications, while carrying out advanced services to enhance the road network's capacity.
