Saudi-French Creative Space ‘La Fabrique’ Opens in Riyadh’s JAX District

Riyadh Art, in partnership with the French Institute in Saudi Arabia (IFAS), has announced the launch of the “La Fabrique” (The Factory) creative initiative in Riyadh Art Hub in JAX District, running from Thursday and lasting until February 14.

Held under the theme “Au-delà de l’éphémère,” translated as “Beyond the Ephemeral,” La Fabrique is a new space for creative expression and cultural exchange, offering an open platform for artists to develop and share their ideas across a wide range of contemporary artistic practices.

The initiative also invites visitors to engage directly with the creative process as it unfolds, providing insight into how artworks take shape and evolve.

La Fabrique’s accompanying program spans multiple disciplines, including performance art, digital and interactive arts, photography, music, cinema, culinary arts, and other participatory practices.

By bringing these fields together in a shared space, the initiative highlights the creative process itself as a central element of contemporary art, emphasizing interaction, dialogue, and the relationship among the artist, the material, and the spatial context.

Executive Vice President of the Lifestyle Sector at the Royal Commission for Riyadh City Eng. Khalid Al-Hazani said the project reflects Riyadh Art’s role in supporting contemporary artistic practices and expanding public access through creative development pathways.

La Fabrique, Al-Hazani added, provides a platform for collaborative work, while strengthening the global cultural ecosystem in Riyadh, empowering the city’s growing creative scene, and reinforcing the capital’s position as a leading destination for arts and culture.

Ambassador of France to Saudi Arabia Patrick Maisonnave said La Fabrique embodies the spirit of a new cultural phase in Saudi-French relations.

By bringing together artists from both countries, Maisonnave noted, the initiative opens avenues for exchanging ideas and expertise, creating new artistic expressions that deepen mutual understanding and strengthen cultural dialogue.

He emphasized that La Fabrique reflects a shared belief in art as a powerful tool for bringing societies closer together and as a fundamental component in building a common future.

La Fabrique forms part of the broader cultural partnership between Saudi Arabia and France, which places culture at the heart of bilateral cooperation and supports creative exchange and artistic collaboration between the two countries.

The project was developed in cooperation with Riyadh Art, a flagship program overseen by the Royal Commission for Riyadh City, and in coordination with relevant cultural entities, contributing to Riyadh’s transformation into a global cultural destination in line with the objectives of Saudi Vision 2030.
