Al-Ahsa Governorate Sees Early Harvest of Rutab Dates

Al-Ahsa Governorate is seeing the early harvest of Rutab (semi-ripe dates) as summer begins and temperatures rise, from May 20 to July 20, 2025. Markets across the Kingdom are preparing to receive over 20 varieties of Rutab.
The Ministry of Environment, Water, and Agriculture has announced an abundant Rutab harvest for this year in Al-Ahsa Oasis, the world's largest palm oasis and a UNESCO World Heritage Site. This oasis boasts over two million palm trees that produce more than 120,000 tons of dates annually.
Early Rutab varieties now being received by markets include Rutab Aghar (June 1-10), Rutab Shishi (June 25-30), and Rutab Ikhlas (July 10-20). Meanwhile, the late Rutab harvest begins in early July and continues until mid-August.
The fully ripened date (tamar) harvest starts mid-August through early October, featuring Tamar Shishi (August 15-25), Tamar Khalas (September 15-25), and Tamar Raziz (October 1-15).
