Saudi Arabia's Dairy Sector Adopts Cutting-Edge Solutions for Enhanced Quality and Productivity
The National Livestock and Fisheries Development Program (NLFDP) has announced strategic plans to boost cow milk production through advanced genetic improvement initiatives, aiming to enhance productivity and strengthen the Kingdom's dairy sector.
In an interview with the Saudi Press Agency, Supervisor of Biotechnology at NLFDP Dr. Sulaiman Alajel stated that cow farming projects in the Kingdom are ambitious and promising. He emphasized that these initiatives are designed to deliver world-class dairy experiences by integrating cutting-edge technologies and encouraging greater private sector participation and investment.
Dr. Alajel highlighted that milk and dairy products produced in the Kingdom are among the best globally, attributing this to the use of modern biotechnology. This technology not only improves milk yield to meet domestic consumption and move toward self-sufficiency but also significantly improves the overall quality and safety of production.
Notably, genetic improvement testing conducted by the program can reduce the prevalence of genetically linked and production-related diseases by up to 60% by identifying and eliminating animals that carry genes associated with chronic illnesses.
