Majed AlTahan A Saudi Entrepreneur Leading the Digital Transformation of Retail and Shaping the Future of E-Commerce in the Kingdom

Saudi entrepreneur Majed Mohammed AlTahan continues to play a pivotal role in shaping the future of e-commerce in the Kingdom, following years of work in developing digital retail and technology platforms that helped establish the early foundations of the e-commerce sector before its widespread growth in the Saudi market.

One of the most significant milestones in this journey is Danube Online, which AlTahan developed in partnership with BinDawood Holding. Upon its launch, the platform became the first large-scale model for online grocery shopping in the Kingdom. Its advanced standards in product selection, packaging, delivery scheduling, and maintaining fresh-produce quality contributed to building consumer trust in online shopping and paved the way for the rise of omnichannel retail.

AlTahan also founded International Applications Company (IACo), which evolved into a leading provider of e-commerce technologies, loyalty systems, and digital retail solutions. In 2023, BinDawood Holding, through its technology arm “Future Tech Retail,” acquired a majority stake in the company, further strengthening IACo’s role in supporting the technological development of the group’s brands, stores, and online platforms.

Today, AlTahan leads one of the Kingdom’s most significant technology-driven transformation initiatives through his involvement in the major project announced by BinDawood Holding to establish a national network of automated fulfillment centers and robotic stores, with investments exceeding 1.5 billion SAR. The project aims to build an integrated ecosystem of micro-fulfillment centers and large automated warehouses powered by robotics, artificial intelligence, and advanced data management—positioning it among the largest e-commerce logistics infrastructures in the region.

AlTahan also oversees a diverse portfolio of more than 40 companies across food technology, digital health, logistics, and media, in addition to serving on the boards of several technology and media companies—reflecting his expanding role in supporting the Kingdom’s rapidly growing innovation ecosystem in line with Vision 2030 goals.

Through his work in developing digital platforms and strengthening advanced logistical infrastructure, Majid Al-Tahan stands as a key pillar in the digital transformation journey underway in Saudi Arabia amid the global shift toward automation and digital-first commerce.
