Najran Region: Mineral Wealth Exceeds SAR145 Billion amid Rapid Industrial Investment Growth
Najran Region is making ambitious strides toward establishing a prominent position on the Saudi mining map, driven by a vast mineral wealth estimated at over SAR145 billion and rich geological diversity that includes a variety of precious minerals.
The region is home to several important minerals such as gold, copper, zinc, lead, and silver, in addition to decorative and construction stones like marble, granite, basalt, and silica sand, enhancing Najran’s role as a vital contributor to the Kingdom’s economic diversification efforts.
Najran’s towering mountains serve as a major source of high-quality granite. More than 14 national companies operate at mining sites across the region, most notably the Bir Askar mining complex, which has become a key destination for major companies due to its rare geological properties.
The region’s annual granite production stands at approximately 4,500 cubic meters, with expansion plans underway to meet growing local and international demand. Najran granite is distinguished by its unique colors and high durability, making it a key material in major national projects, including the two holy mosques, universities, palaces, and various government and public facilities.
