Historic Jeddah's Sunken Treasures Exhibition Traces 1,300-Year Legacy of Othman Ibn Affan Mosque

The "Sunken Treasures: The Maritime Heritage of the Red Sea" exhibition at the Red Sea Museum in Historic Jeddah displays archaeological finds from the Othman Ibn Affan Mosque. Dating from the 17th to 19th centuries CE, artifacts such as Chinese ceramics and an 1880 CE southern Arabian oil lamp highlight Jeddah's history as a major Red Sea port, pilgrim gateway, and global trade hub.

 These discoveries reinforce the 1,300-year legacy of the mosque, established after Caliph Othman designated Jeddah as Makkah's primary port. The exhibition supports Saudi Vision 2030 goals by promoting Red Sea navigation history and positioning Historic Jeddah as a global cultural destination.
