Shrimp Season Arrives in Jazan Fish Markets
With the start of the shrimp fishing season off the coast of Jazan Region, fish markets have begun receiving the first catches, highlighting the role of marine fisheries as an economic resource whose benefits extend to fishermen, markets, restaurants, and food establishments.
Jazan accounts for approximately 46% of total fish landings along the Kingdom’s Red Sea coast, reinforcing its position as a key hub for the marine fisheries sector on the western coast.
This year’s shrimp fishing season includes 120 licensed fishing boats operating under regulations that enable fishermen to conduct their activities in accordance with established guidelines, supporting the efficient and sustainable use of marine resources.
The season runs from September 2026 through the end of March 2027, regulating fishing activities during this period and balancing the demands of economic activity with the preservation of marine stocks.
